About

Rebecca Alva - Early Intervention Trainings

I am a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist with 20 years experience.  I have worked primarily with the Pediatric-Preschool Populations.  I have also worked as a Provider in NYC-Early Intervention Program.  I have extensive experience presenting to colleagues, personnel and parents within the Hospital, School, University & Conference settings.  At the NYC DOH – Early Intervention Program, I worked as an Evaluation Reviewer for two years as part of the Evaluation Standards Unit.  There I successfully guided EI Providers in understanding and navigating through State/Federal Regulations and Guidelines in order to perform evaluations in the EIP.  I’ve continued to guide EI Providers through ongoing trainings (live and online for 7 years) such as Performing Evaluations in Early Intervention and Feeding Evaluations In Early Intervention.

What Do I Do?

Copy of IMG_5318I help all providers who perform evaluations in the Early Intervention Program. They include Special Educators, Speech-Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Licensed Social Workers, Audiologists and Agency Directors & Supervisors.

Why Did I Create This Website?

While I was at the NYC DOH Early Intervention Program-Evaluation Standards Unit, I got to speak over the phone with hundreds of providers, helping them understand and navigate through State/Federal Regulations and Guidelines in order to perform evaluations in the EIP.  Inevitably these conversations would end with the provider asking, “Would you come and do a training for us”? After two years I decided I could help providers better if I were on the outside rather than on the inside.
